Priorities
Adams County is at an inflection point. The work we do now to improve the quality of life for our communities, raise wages for our workers, ensure we are creating the affordable and attainable housing our families count on, and fight to hold polluters accountable will determine what kind of place Adams County grows to become. I'm running because I believe in a future for Adams County where all are welcome, we can all live a life of dignity, and our air and water is clean and healthy. Please read below to learn my priorities for the next four years as your Adams County Commissioner.
A Living Wage for All
We all deserve to live a life of dignity with the comfort of knowing we are properly compensated for the work we do. To me, this means a 40 hour per week paycheck should be able to provide you with a living wage that allows you the ability to provide a living for yourself. As your County Commissioner, I will advance two policy proposals that will ensure every worker in Adams County receives a living wage. First, I will fight for a prevailing wage policy for our County government, ensuring that every contractor who does work with the County pays their workers a living wage. Secondly, I will be a strong advocate for increasing the minimum wage in Adams County – ensuring everyone who works in Adams County can enjoy the fruits of the labor and live a life of dignity.
Affordable and Attainable Housing
It’s no secret that the cost of housing in Colorado and Adams County has reached crisis levels. Families and residents are spending too much of their income on the basic necessities of putting a roof over their head. Our communities should be a place where everyone can afford a place to stay and see a path to home ownership. I will continue to bring stakeholders together; including those impacted by our high housing costs to local governments, to homebuilders to ensure we are working towards a future where our loved ones can continue to call Adams County home.
Clean Air and Water
The air and water we breathe and drink in Adams County has a direct outcome on the healthy and vitality of our families and loved ones. Adams County is home to one of the most polluted zip codes in the United States - I will continue to work with federal agencies, state officials and government so we can hold big polluters accountable and correct their behavior so we look back 20 years from now knowing the work to keep our communities are healthier and cleaner started today.
Fresh Food for our Communities
My roots and connections to our farming communities has instilled in me a great sense of value for fresh locally grown food. Every families deserves access to fresh food that they know is healthy and good to eat. I will continue to work on my passion projects of agland preservation where we have preserved nearly 700 acres of farmland in the Historic Splendid Valley.
